DIY 'Nearly edible' Sugar & Honey Lip Scrub

Hello Lovelies! Today I want to share a DIY lip scrub with you.Since it's summer where I live, my lips have been getting super dry and chapped. Not only does it feel gross, but it makes wearing lipstick really hard (not to mention a bit unappealing) because of the lines and chapped skin that becomes SUPER visible after application. So I stumbled across this 'recipe' from The Chalk Mag and I decided to try it myself and also share it with you guys!

I use this 2-3 times a week, before I shower because it does get a little oily and I don't want to have excess oil on my skin (since I have oily skin to start with!). The ingredients that are used are super simple and you may already have all of them at home already! Not to mention, this only takes about 3 minutes to make and the only thing you have to do is mix!

Let's get started =D

Ingredients
  • 1 tbs sugar*
  • 1 tbs honey
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Vaseline
  • Spatula/spoon to mix
  • Container for storage

* I used brown sugar because I used all my white sugar to make cupcakes the day before xD You can use any type of sugar you want; keeping in mind that the bigger the sugar crystals, the more exfoliation you will get. Though I do recommend white sugar, as I found the brown sugar a bit course and chunky on my lips.

Method
1. Mix the honey and sugar

2. Add Vaseline and mix well

3. Pour in the olive oil and mix well

4. Spoon the mixture into a container

Storage and Usage
I store my lip scrub in the fridge and it can last for 3-4 weeks. All you need to do, is take some of the lip scrub and rub it on your lips, focusing on the dry spots. Rub until the the oil is absorbed and some sugar begins to dissolve or as long as you want to! Rinse off the excess oils with warm water and apply your favourite lip balm!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For an ABSOLUTELY EDIBLE version of the scrub, replace the Vaseline with raw honey.

Alternative
If you find the recipe about still too time consuming, or you don't like storing the scrub, you can always do it the alternative way which only requires 2 ingredients!

Take an ample amount of sugar and mix it with enough olive oil to coat all the crystals. Go ahead and rub it on your lips =D

I hope this helped if you were having chapped lips and were looking for a solution! Until next time! BYE!

  1. I've always wanted to try a lip scrub (especially because the cold winter has been making my lips super chapped). Definitely trying this~ :'D I'm probably going to try the super easy way, because I don't have Vaseline handy. xD
    Thanks for sharing!
