Monthly Favourites: April 2013

Estee Lauder Pleasures Body Lotion
Again, I've been using this at least 3 times a week. It isn't a great moisturiser (I use it as a hand cream instead of a body lotion) but it smells amazing! I'm considering to buy the perfume for it!

Tony Moly Hello Bunny Perfume Bar (Pom Pom Green tea)
Cutest packaging ever. It smells amazing. Although it isn't as strong as perfume, it gives a subtle scent that is nice for everyday (again, I use it for uni). Lasting power is quite good considering the scent is not very strong to begin with. For me, I would have to reapply once during midday which I don't really mind. It is also very travel friendly due to the small size!

OPI Rapidry Top Coat
Absolutely been loving this. Although there are probably better top coats out there, this is the best one I've got. I was previously using the Nicole by OPI top coat which was horrible because it did not dry my nails AT ALL (even with a 6 hour wait...) So I have been loving this in contrast to the Nicole one I was previously using. Only complaint is that makes the polish peel very easily, causing chips on the second day (this never happened to me, my polish usually lasts at least 2 days).

OPI Can't find my Czechbook
An awesome dark sky blue. That is all I can say about it. No streaking, great application and no complaints! A fun colour to rock in summer or when you want to add an extra pop of colour to your outfit! I swatched this in a manicure monday post here.

OPI Pirouette My Whistle
A beautiful glitter polish the has a combination of small and chunky glitter pieces. I think this is beautiful over neutral looking colours, but it definitely works with all types of colours!

Innisfree Lip Stain (#01 Cherry Red)
I absolutely love this. It is easy to use and gives such a pretty red colour on my lips. It is very easy to achieve the gradient lip look and it takes less than 5 seconds! I use this every morning for uni because it makes my lips look nice while making it seem I didn't really do much! (Which is true because this is so quick and easy to use).

Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel
I use this as a sleeping pack at least once a week and then any other time my face has dry patches and I don't want to layer on more moisturiser. Smells like watermelon and is light, doesn't break me out and is super hydrating.

~

If you want a full review or swatches for any of the products let me know in the comments and I'll try my best to get it up ASAP! =]

Also I won't be doing Manicure Monday this week because I've decided to give my nails a rest and grow out because they are super gross and they just need some rest.

PS. I'm writing this in the middle of a histology lecture...not that anyone is interested or anything >.< haha

Manicure Monday: Can't find my Czechbook

WHY hello there ;] I am back with another Manicure Monday. I'm sorry I haven't been able to post a different type of post in between this one and my previous one...I'm honestly constantly running out of time. Just yesterday (I'm drafting this on Sunday night) I completed my first aid course and it took the ENTIRE day. No kidding. So I was super duper drained after that and didn't get to do any work or blog stuff =[ So I ask you to bear with me while I try to get back on track with uni work, life and everything else...but for the time being I think the Mani Mondays will be the only things here for a while... =[

Apologies in adavance for the random piece of fluff on my pinky finger....I have no idea how that got there >.<

Anyway, I absolutely adore this colour! I never expected to like this colour so much. I think I would describe it as the colour that is 2 shades darker than sky blue. Ok that is a very pathetic description but it really does resemble sky blue but when you actually concentrate a bit more, you realise its a few shades darker.

In the picture above, I had 2 coats on. The polish is very opaque and if you have good nail painting skills you can probably do with only 1 coat if you used a bigger blob of polish at the start. i had no trouble with streaking or anything of the kind. Overall, I love this polish to bits and would recommend it to anyone who likes blue nail colours and during summer!

Manicure Monday: You Callin' me a Lyre? & Pirouette my whistle

Hello my lovelies! Long time no talk =[ Uni is absolutely killing me. The course is just so intense and I never seem to have time to do ANYTHING anymore...

I recently hauled a few things from Gmarket that I've been meaning to blog about but haven't got the chance yet =[ A few of the things were nail polish!!! So I have a few new colours to show you guys and give my opinion on!

Also I've decided to do manicure Mondays now because, I have to repaint my nails every Monday night T.T My infection control class is very strict on the dress code, and nail polish is a massive NO NO! So I re-do my nails every Monday night...how sad. I'm not sure if I'll be able to continue with this in second semester though because I heard that we are going to be seeing patients like everyday so that's a definite NO to nail polish..We'll have to see though! Anyway on to the review!

This was the finished product and it consisted of 3-4 layers of You callin' me a lyre with 1 coat of pirouette my whistle on top!

I've seen people put these two together but honestly I just don't like it that much! As you can see in the pictures, the You callin' me a lyre is SO SHEER! And that's with 3-4 coats already..... I've seen people do swatches of this one and it comes out a nice opaque pale baby pink, but I just could not get that result on my nails...I think the white parts of my nails are too white? I have no idea, but it just didn't come out like the nice baby pink I wanted it to....

BUT fear not. I got this colour mainly as a french  manicure base, so I still absolutely love it! (Just not as a stand-alone colour)

Then Pirouette my whistle is a very very (yes, double very) pretty glitter top coat. It has 2 sizes of glitter, a very small one that is filled throughout the polish, and then the large hexagon chunky glitter particles. I absolutely love this glitter coat, as it can go with any colour. Also, it's not that hard to remove either, since a lot of people seem to have glitter removal problems...

So overall this wouldn't be my favourite combination, but I do love the colours separately!

I might try something similar soon, like the nude base with Pirouette my whistle on top!

That's all from me today! I hope to talk to you guys soon!

PS. My manicure monday's will be a week behind (for those who follow me on instagram, you'll know) because I can only paint my nails Monday night, so I don't really have time to take pictures and get the post up on the same Monday, so the post will be up the following Monday. Feel free to follow me on instagram if you want to see what I'm wearing on my nails real time ^^

Etude House Styling Eyeliner #2 White

Product

Packaging
The eyeliner comes in a very simple white packaging with black text. Overall it is very plain but easy to carry around especially for travel.

Colour

There are 2 colours (black and white) available for this eyeliner. I got the white one because I was in need of a clean white colour for my waterline and inner corners. I would say the colour pay off is 'mild' because it requires a few strokes to get the clean white colour. The bad thing about it, is that the staying power is horrible....I mainly use it on my waterline and it stays on for a maximum of 2-3 hours before I need to reapply it. Also, the eyeliner itself is very soft, which is good but then because it is white, the point of the pencil easily picks up the other makeup on your eye which makes it dirty. So I find myself cleaning the tip a lot between applications.

Usage
Sorry for the blurry picture..
The pencil is very easy to use, and you get good control of the line. I wouldn't say this is able to produce very fine lines but it is a pencil after all! Again, the liner itself is soft so it glides on easily which is great for the the waterline because you don't want to be tugging at sensitive areas. If you are confident with eyeliner pencils then this one shouldn't  be a challenge for you!

My Opinion
Overall I do like this liner. I wished the staying power was heaps better though. I will repurchase this product until I find one that is better, in regards to staying power and how 'white' the colour is.

Pros                                                Cons
- Cheap                                                               - Staying power is horrible (2-3 hours max.)
- Easy to travel with                                           - The product can be arguably 'too soft'
- Soft product                                                     - It is easily dirtied by other make up on the eye
- Easy to use

Skinfood Acorn Jelly Mask

HELLO! I am not dead (well half dead..) and have not tended to my blog in SUCH a long time! If anybody is wondering why this is posted so early in the morning, I am so sick right now and I slept at 7pm last night which resulted in me waking up at 5am...so I did my nails (yes...the priorities of a sick person...) and decided to blog! I still have uni in about 2 hours and also because I am sick, I would like to apologize in advance for being so conversational in this review and also I found myself switching between casual and formal ....I have no idea my brain is just not working and I am extremely hungry. Anyway, I hope this review was helpful and that the inconsistent English is not too hard to deal with =D

Product

I have no idea what the price was because I bought mine from Australia so it was probably 3 times the original...

Packaging

I think it has super cute packaging, and of course coming from Skinfood, it has a very vintage and earthy feel. The container is glass with a plastic lid. I bought mine at an Asian beauty store in Melbourne so i didn't get my spoon that is supposed to come with it =[ I have been using this for a very long time so I chucked out the piece of paper that goes on top so I will just insert a stolen picture from the internet down below... ;] (jks..I'll credit the owner via hyperlink).

Usage

"After washing, apply an ample amount onto the face and massage gently. Leave for 1 minute, and then rinse off with lukewarm water".
So I am the type of person that does something different to my face every single night (no kidding), so when I first read the instructions my brain automatically went 'ain't no body got time for that' and so I use this once a week for 10 minutes each time. I do it straight after I come out of the shower (because the steam from your shower/bath should help open up your pores and your face should be clean after your shower) and I pat a LITTLE bit of warm water on my face before putting the mask on. I feel that it just helps the application process, but totally optional.

Also, due to the, what I like to call, too-much-water-jello consistency a little bit goes a long way! It spreads very easily (this should really go into texture...) and it will last you a long time!

Texture

As mentioned previously, the mask has a smooth runny jello-like texture so it spreads very easily onto your face.
This is a totally random comment but after you put it on it looks really funny because it makes your skin tone a few shades darker. So you basically look like you have OVER spray tanned your face. Which I find quite funny.....

My Opinion
I did see results from using this, especially around my nose which suffers the most from enlarged pores. For people who follow the instructions and use it every day you guys will probably see greater and better results...maybe? I did not repurchase this however, because I wanted something that gave stronger results (I'm currently trying Origin's charcoal mask). All in all, I recommend this to people as the 'cheaper alternative' (I'm sure it is very cheap compared to, for eg. the Origins mask) and individuals who suffer mildly from enlarged pores. If you are looking for something to give strong results, this is probably not the one for you.

Pros                                              Cons
- Relatively cheap                                                - Can get messy during application
- Cute packaging                                                  - Visible, but not great/strong results
- Visible results

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

Hello everyone! I know I haven't updated my blog in a SUPER long time! I have LOTS and LOTS of review lined up (I've even taken all the pictures!) for you guys but I just haven't had the time to edit and actually write up the review. Reason being? I just started UNI! YAY =D Ok, not really. My course is really intense, I actually have 36 contact hours....., and I'm trying to get the hang of everything so I haven't really had time to update. But I'm working on it and if all goes well I'll be able to update regularly like before =]

SO on to the review! A while ago I bought the Etude house pore freshner. It is a toner that targets large pores and oily skin. I saw lots of good reviews on this so I thought I'd give it a try!

Product
 Features Seven Pore Effects:
- Maintains ph 4.5 to within 1 ph
- Refines the skin tones
- Keep the elasticity of pores
- Deep cleanses pores
- Minimize appearance of pores
- Control a large amount of the sebum (oil control)
- Moisturize inside and outside of skin

Packaging

The packaging for this product is simple and neat. I can't say I love or hate it, as there isn't much of a 'wow factor' to it. All I can say is that it does it's job.

Usage

After cleaning, pump an appropriate amount on a cotton pad and wipe it gently over the face. I already have a toner in my skin care routine, so bought a small spray container and transferred it to that. I spray a little bit on my face during the day when my skin feels dry, itchy or oily (I then pat it dry with a tissue to rid of excess oil secretion on my face).

The pump is has is similar to the ones you get on nail polish remover bottles. I personally love this type of pump as I think it's clean and easy to use since it's mess free. Not to mention it's fun to play with =D

Scent
I have to admit this thing smells kind of funky. I can't pinpoint the smell exactly but I don't really like it. Luckily, the smell won't stay with you. After about 3 minutes of application I can't smell it at all, so I don't care for the funky smell. It's just strong when you first put it on.

My opinion
Unfortunately, I haven't really seen any changes to my pores so I don't think the product is really working for me. I'm currently using it at night after I remove my make up to make sure that all the BB cream on my face is removed, and then go in with my normal skin routine after. But as I said, I haven't seen any visible results so I probably won't be repurchasing this.

Just a random fact, I know Key from SHINee uses this for his skin. He was shown packing this in his luggage in Shinee's Wonderful day.

Pros                                                           Cons
- Relatively cheap for the amount of product you get                - Results are not obvious for my skin
- Pump is easy to use
- Packaging is neat and cute

That's all for now! I'll be back with more review soon! BYE ~
